Deck Repair 101 ….

With summer fast approaching, many families are starting to dream of relaxing by the pool, gardening and spending relaxing days or nights out on their decks! But a caution to homeowners, those decks can sustain considerable damage over the course of the winter and should be inspected on a yearly basis.  If your deck is less than 15 years old, a yearly check for popped nails and any damaged deck planks should be on your to-do list.  In addtion, any dirt or mildew should be cleaned off and a new finish applied to the deck.  With older decks, in addition to checking for popped nails, damaged deck planks and your regular deck maintenance, a careful inspection of the deck framing should be made.  Close attention should be paid to any visible moisture damage or rot.  If moisture damage or rot is found, your deck should be assessed by a professional who can advise whether the deck is safe for use.  A new deck may be suggested or a repair done to your existing deck.  Look to Rombough Renovations – Ottawa’s Renovation Choice – for trusted advice on your deck matters.  www.romboughrenovations.com
